How-To Guide: How Buyer Protection Insurance Works

We want all buyers to feel confident shopping on HORSED. That’s why we offer Buyer Protection on every purchase — a small fee that gives you peace of mind when buying from fellow equestrians.

How it works:

  • Buyer Protection costs 5% of the purchase price plus £0.80 and is automatically added to your total at checkout.

  • Your payment is held safely by HORSED and only released to the seller once you've confirmed the item has arrived and is as expected.

What it covers:

  • If your item doesn’t arrive, is damaged in transit, or is significantly not as described, you’re fully covered.

  • If any of these issues occur, you can raise a dispute and request a refund.

How to raise a dispute:

  1. When the item is marked as delivered you will get the option appear in your messages to mark the item as expected or to raise an issue.

  2. Tap “The item is not as expected”.

  3. Add details of the issue and any relevant photos.

  4. This will go across to the seller and they can agree to the item being returned or dispute the issue.

  5. If the seller doesn’t response or disputes the issue this will go to HORSED support for someone to manually have a look at everything and decide a resolution. We always aim to keep everyone happy but we do want to ensure the platform remains transparent and beneficial for buyers & sellers.

  6. If the seller agrees to the return - you will receive a postage label to return the item. You have 5 days to post the item and will receive a refund when the item is marked back delivered with the seller.

Why Buyer Protection matters:

  • It ensures that shopping on HORSED is low-risk and high-trust.

  • It gives buyers confidence and holds sellers accountable if they sell something without being fully transparent on any issues or defaults with the item

  • It keeps the platform secure for everyone. If you don’t receive your item you will get a full refund.

Buyer Protection ensures fair outcomes for both buyers and sellers — keeping the HORSED community safe, honest, and supportive.
