How-To Guide: Taking Clear Photographs for Your Listings
High-quality photos make your listings stand out and give buyers confidence in what they’re purchasing.
Here’s how to make your photos count:
1. Use Natural Lighting:
Take your photos during the day near a window or outside.
Avoid using harsh flash – it can create shadows or distort colours.
2. Photograph from All Angles:
Capture the front, back, sides, and close-ups of key features. When the item is clicked it will scroll through the images as slideshow for prospective buyers.
If the item has any flaws or marks, include them to maintain honesty.
3. Show Labels & Logos:
Always photograph the label or brand tag to help confirm authenticity.
For equestrian brands, these are especially helpful for buyers.
4. Choose a Clean Background:
Lay the item flat on a neutral surface (e.g., a clean white sheet or wooden floor).
Avoid clutter or patterned backgrounds – the item should be the focus.
5. Present It Well:
Clean the item before photographing.
Hang clothing items or place tack neatly to make it look its best.
